Job Description
Responsible for dismantling, installing & commissioning, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating
various instrumentation and control systems on construction site. Essential experience in electro
pneumatic instruments, electro-mechanical components, electronic instruments to ensure efficient
and safe operation of machinery, equipment, and processes. Good understanding of
PLC/SCADA/Stardom systems, profibus and fibre optic networks (FTTH), control instrument and
electrical principles, mechanical systems, and pneumatic controls.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ability to install, remove, and commission instrumentation equipment according to
manufacturer specifications and plant standards.
• Installing and diagnosing and resolving issues with instrumentation systems,
PLC/SCADA/Stardom system and profibus and fibre optic network system using diagnostic tools
and troubleshooting techniques.
• Testing and commissioning instrumentation systems to ensure they function correctly.
• Performing routine maintenance checks, inspections, and repairs on existing instrumentation
systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other tradespeople & stakeholders and escalate issues to
site supervisor.
• Adhering to safety regulations and procedures when working with electrical, mechanical, and
pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to identify and mitigate safety related risks and knowledge of environmental regulations
and their impact on instrumentation systems
• Ensure correct movement of equipment’s from OEM’s/Distributors to site/plant to various points
depending on testing of pumps or bagging of product.
• Support to Instrument/electrical/mechanical maintenance activities and production when
requested.
• Efficiently managing time and prioritizing tasks to complete cleaning in a timely manner, 4S +
good housekeeping and self-discipline management.
Qualifications:
• Matric and N3 with Mathematics & Science
• NQF 4 Red Seal Instrument trade test certificate
• Driver’s license – Minimum Code 10 (EC)
• Must have own tools and testing instruments (Toolbox)
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a qualified artisan in heavy electro-chemical and process
control industry.
